We are delighted to announce that we shall soon be getting delivery of the Emergency Defibrillator in the next couple of weeks, and hope to have it installed as soon as we can. Thank you once again to all those that have contributed to this vital resource for the community.
Gentle reminder, if you haven’t renewed your memberships this year, you have two weeks left (before your membership terminates). A notice of those in arrears will be posted shortly on the notice board.
You can renew in the club, during normal opening hours.
As you are likely aware, the Covid-19 pandemic is still with us, and it will be for a while yet. As a Committee we have reviewed and will continue to review the situation as it develops. There is a fine line between providing a safe environment for members & staff and getting back to business as usual. There have been a number of events recently which have caused concern.
Sometimes the reality is we have to take a step backwards for us to move forwards, and we have to make decisions that won’t always be popular, but it is in the best interests for all.
From Thursday 2nd December, we will re-introduce the “No Standing at the Bar” rule. This is to protect our staff and our members alike. The seats at the bar end of the bar will also be removed.
This is a temporary measure, and will remain in place until at least the next Government announcement.
Thank you for your understanding and we hope you can appreciate this is not a decision we have taken lightly.
Management Committee (01/12/2021)
The Committee are raising funds for an emergency Defibrillator to be based at the Club.
This will be made available as a community resource and so will not only benefit anyone that is in need at the Club, but also the wider community.
A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. This high energy shock is called defibrillation, and it’s an essential part in trying to save the life of someone who’s in cardiac arrest.
We have placed a collection box on the bar, and any donations would be gratefully received.
We’ll also be donating some of the proceeds from raffles and other events into the fund.
We hope to have this lifesaving resource available as soon as possible. Please give generously where you can. If you’d like to donate on-line, please go here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/465bt8-bhgc-community-defibrillator
In accordance with Club Rules, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on
Thursday 26th August 2021 at 8:00PM
Children and non-members are not permitted in the Club whilst the meeting is taking place.
You will be required to bring your membership/access card on the evening.
If you wish to be considered for the roles of President, Vice President, Chairman, Vice Chairman and Committee you will be required to complete a Nomination form which is available behind the Bar. Nominations are to be returned by Tuesday 24th August 2021. Nominations will only be accepted at the AGM if there are vacancies to fill (a form must still be completed).
The Agenda for the AGM will be posted on the notice board nearer the time.
The AGM will be longer than normal, as due to the Covid-19 Pandemic there are two years of accounts to present.
As you are no doubt aware, the Governments legal restrictions for Covid come to an end on Monday 19th July. However we all need to remember that Covid-19 and the pandemic has not disappeared, and we all need to be sensible about it. To that end the Committee have decided most of the restrictions that have been in place at the Club will also end, but some will remain.
From Tuesday 20th July:
- There will be no more one-way system, and the main door should be used for general access to the Club. Please be mindful when using the stairs or in areas where you need to pass in close proximity.
- Members will no longer need to sign in or scan the NHS QR Code, however the Code will remain available for those that want to use it.
- More seats and tables will be re-instated.
- Table Service will end, and you will be able to order and collect drinks at the bar, however there will be NO STANDING AT THE BAR at this time.
- The Pool Table will be back in use, and disinfectant wipes will be provided to clean the table and cues.
- Children and small dogs will once again be permitted into the club (subject to the previous rules).
- Hand sanitisers will remain in place.
- We recommend that masks are worn whilst moving around the club.
- We encourage you to sit at a table.
At this time the following will not be possible:
- Quiz Nights
- Live Entertainment
- Standing at the bar if not ordering or collecting drinks
We will review the remaining restrictions at the next Committee Meeting and subsequent meetings as appropriate.
I am pleased to announce that the Club will re-open on Monday 17th May (subject to the Governments plans staying on schedule).
The opening hours will be:
Monday 19:00 – 23:00 * (NO BINGO)
Tuesday 19:00 – 23:00
Wednesday 19:00 – 23:00
Thursday 19:00 – 23:00
Friday 19:00 – 23:30
Saturday 11:30 – 23:00
Sunday 11:30 – 22:00 *
* Please Note: Monday and Sunday opening hours will be extended for a month on a trial basis.
We are expecting some (if not all) Social Distancing rules to remain in place prior to the lock down. More detail will be provided nearer the time.
The Committee will work hard over the next few weeks to ensure the Club is ready for re-opening, we have to service/recommission all the equipment, perform a deep clean, and re-stock (just about everything).
We’re really looking forward to welcoming you all back. I hope to update you all with further details nearer to the opening time.
Given the events of this year, the management committee have decided to extend everyone’s membership for free in 2021. You will not receive a new sticker for your cards, but they will remain valid until the next renewal in December 2021/January 2022.
We have made available a GoFundMe donation site, we would like to ask those that can afford to do so, to make a small donation to Club funds in lieu of the membership fees this year.
Be rest assured the Club is not in any financial difficulty, this is merely a way to help us with the deficit of no membership income this year, and gives you a way to provide continued support for the Club whilst we remain closed.
The Committee have been monitoring the usage of the club since we re-opened from the lockdown. There are some clear times that it is not beneficial for us to open, with takings not even covering staff wages.
The Committee have had to make a difficult decision, and therefore from Monday 17th August (inclusive) the club will open as per these revised opening times:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday: 19:00-23:00
- Wednesday: 19:00-22:00
- Thursday: 19:00-22:00
- Friday: 17:00-23:00
- Saturday: 11:30-23:00
- Sunday: 11:30-18:00
Bank Holiday Monday (31st August) the club will be open 11:30-18:00.
We thank you for your continued support, and hope you understand why we’ve had to make this decision. We will continue to monitor the situation and will review as needed.
Please come and visit the Club if you are able, we’d love to see you, we have all necessary Covid measures in place.
